About This Role

This is a hands-on engineering role responsible for turning business growth needs into physical infrastructure—from new production halls to upgraded utilities in rural collection points. It suits a mid-career engineer who enjoys managing full-cycle capital projects, working with both local contractors and international suppliers, and navigating construction sites rather than staying behind a desk. Holland Dairy is a major dairy processor, so the role offers tangible impact on Ethiopia’s food supply chain.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The listing implies the ideal candidate is a generalist engineer with strong project management instincts—someone who can calculate warehouse sizes, draft BOQs, and supervise civil, mechanical, and electrical works simultaneously. The emphasis on “translating company needs into technical scope” suggests the employer values problem-solving and communication as much as technical depth. They are not looking for a pure specialist but an engineer who can coordinate multiple trades and keep safety standards high without constant oversight.

How to Approach This Application

Focus your application on specific capital projects you have led or contributed to, especially those involving construction, equipment installation, or utility upgrades. Highlight experience working with contractors and managing budgets or timelines, as this role requires balancing technical decisions with cost control. Emphasize any familiarity with dairy, food processing, or cold chain infrastructure—it will set you apart, but not required if you show strong project delivery elsewhere.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

Best suited for an engineer with 3-5 years of experience in industrial project execution who enjoys varied, on-site work rather than repetitive tasks. Competition should be moderate, as the location in Bishoftu and the specific sector may narrow the candidate pool.

Some examples can be the construction of a new production hall including machinery, calculating the required size of a new warehouse (and building it), upgrading milk collection points in rural areas or upgrading utilities such as generators and transformers. He/she will work closely with local contractors and select and manage international suppliers where needed.
