About This Role
This is a hands-on financial stewardship role within a respected international NGO operating in Ethiopia’s Gofa Zone. While titled “Cashier,” the position functions as a frontline guardian of project funds, requiring daily reconciliation and meticulous record-keeping in a rural development context. It suits a finance professional who values structure, integrity, and the ability to work independently in a field office setting.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The employer is seeking someone with proven experience in cash management, not just transaction processing. The emphasis on “accuracy and integrity” suggests they prioritize trustworthiness and error prevention over speed. The requirement for daily cash balancing and petty cash handling implies a need for self-discipline and familiarity with basic accounting controls, likely in an environment with limited digital banking infrastructure.
How to Approach This Application
Highlight any previous experience with cash reconciliation in an NGO or rural project setting. Emphasize your ability to work with minimal supervision and your comfort with manual record-keeping, as the role may involve less automated systems. Show that you understand the importance of transparency and audit readiness—mention specific examples of how you’ve maintained accurate cash logs or handled discrepancies.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best suited for a detail-oriented finance professional with 3–5 years of experience who thrives in structured, low-resource environments. It is moderately competitive, as NGO positions in remote areas often attract fewer applicants but demand high reliability.
