Finance and Administrative officer
Ethio Wetlands and Natural Resources AssociationAbout This Role
This is a field-based finance and admin role with a reputable Ethiopian NGO focused on natural resource governance. The officer will work closely with project coordinators in a multi-regional, donor-funded initiative. It suits a finance professional who is comfortable operating in a semi-remote location and who understands the compliance demands of international development funding, particularly from NORAD. The role likely involves balancing strict financial controls with the logistical realities of project implementation in southwestern Ethiopia.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The employer is looking for a seasoned finance generalist—someone with at least five years of experience who can handle everything from transaction management to grant compliance. The emphasis on "administrative" duties suggests the successful candidate will also need soft skills in coordination and reporting, not just technical accounting. This role likely requires someone who can independently enforce financial procedures without constant supervision from Addis Ababa.
How to Approach This Application
Emphasize your experience with donor-funded projects, especially any familiarity with Norwegian development partners or similar bilateral funders. Highlight specific examples of managing budgets for multi-site, rural-based programs. Since the role is based in Metu, demonstrate your willingness to relocate and your understanding of working in Oromia's regional context. Do not just list skills—show how you have previously ensured compliance and transparency in field finance operations.
Who This Role Suits
Best suited for an experienced finance officer with 5–8 years in the NGO sector who is comfortable with administrative coordination and field-based work. Competition will be moderate, with an edge for candidates who have direct experience with NORAD or similar grant management.
