About This Role

This role is less about routine grant administration and more about acting as a strategic growth engine within a high-ambition creative economy initiative. You will be the person who translates big-picture goals—like creating 5 million jobs—into concrete, fundable project proposals. It suits a professional who enjoys the chase of identifying funding opportunities and has the discipline to manage complex compliance systems, particularly within Ethiopia’s development and tech sectors.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

While the listing focuses on proposal writing and compliance, the implied profile is someone who can bridge creative vision with donor logic. The employer is seeking a candidate who doesn't just fill out forms but can critically analyze funding calls and align them with a very specific, homegrown technology and creative economy agenda. You likely need to be comfortable with data-driven storytelling and have a demonstrated ability to navigate the bureaucratic requirements of international donors or government partners.

How to Approach This Application

In your application, do not just list your grant writing experience—showcase a specific case where you identified a funding lead that others missed and turned it into a successful proposal. Emphasize your understanding of the creative and tech sectors in Ethiopia, as the company is positioning this as a homegrown solution. The employer will prioritize candidates who can demonstrate both strategic thinking (finding the right opportunities) and technical precision (managing compliance without errors).

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

This role is best suited for a mid-career professional with 3-5 years of experience in development or project management who thrives on proactive, target-driven work. Given the ambitious job creation target, the role is likely competitive among candidates with a blend of NGO and private sector experience.

1. Organizational Context

The Creative Kingdom Program is a transformative ecosystem focused on driving innovation, economic growth, and social impact through homegrown technology and creative solutions in Ethiopia. Our goal is to empower individuals as problem-solvers and position Ethiopia as a global contributor to the creative economy, with an ambitious target of creating 5 million jobs within five years.

2. Role Summary

Reporting to the CTO, the Grants & Resource Mobilization Coordinator will serve as the technical engine for organizational growth. The position holder will be responsible for identifying funding leads, drafting high-quality technical proposals, and managing a rigorous grant compliance system to ensure all partnership opportunities are pursued with technical precision.

3. Key Performance Areas (KPAs)

A. Pipeline Development & Intelligence

  • Conduct daily monitoring of donor portals (USAID, EU, Foundations) to identify calls for proposals aligned with the program mission.

  • Perform initial eligibility screenings against mandatory donor criteria.

  • Maintain a real-time "Funding Tracker" to provide leadership with visibility on upcoming deadlines and submission statuses.

B. Proposal Development & Technical Writing

  • Lead the drafting of concept notes, Letters of Inquiry (LOIs), and full technical proposals.

  • Coordinate the assembly of complex bid packages, including staff CVs, past performance reports, and registration documents.

  • Standardize a "boilerplate" library of organizational success stories and technical approaches to increase submission efficiency.

C. Strategic Partnership & Consortium Coordination

  • Map and vet local/international NGOs and private sector players for potential co-applications.

  • Identify "Gap-Filler" partners to enhance the competitiveness of joint grant applications.

  • Facilitate the drafting and signing of MOUs and Teaming Agreements before grant opportunities arise.

  • Organize pre-bid workshops with partners to ensure project designs are substantive and collaborative.

D. Grant Management & Stewardship

  • Act as the primary focal point for communication within multi-partner consortiums.

  • Manage a schedule of regular "touchpoints" with existing partners to ensure active engagement outside of bid cycles.

  • Manage the full grant lifecycle: from initial "Go/No-Go" assessments to post-award tracking and donor updates.

  • Education: Master’s degree in International Development, Economics, or related field.

  • Experience: 3–5 years of experience in grant writing or business development within the NGO sector.

  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal English proficiency.

  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word (styles/templates) and Excel for budget coordination.

  • Competencies: High-level detail orientation, time management, and the ability to manage multiple high-pressure deadlines.

Commitment to Diversity & Ethics

  • Hybrid is an Equal Opportunity Organisation. We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment. Qualified women candidates are highly encouraged to apply.

  • Hybrid has zero tolerance for sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment.
