About This Role

This is not a typical job application but a call for organizations to register as pre-qualified vendors supplying office materials to a respected women’s rights network. The role suits established businesses or cooperatives that can reliably deliver stationery, printing supplies, and other standard office consumables to NEWA’s Addis Ababa office. As NEWA coordinates over 50 member associations, suppliers should expect consistent but varied order volumes tied to program activities and advocacy events.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The organization must demonstrate at least 1–3 years of active business operation, implying NEWA seeks vendors with proven reliability rather than start-ups. Registration with Ethiopian authorities and a tax identification number are essential, reflecting the formal procurement procedures of a donor-funded NGO. The call likely prioritizes businesses that can show past supply contracts or references from similar organizations, indicating the need for track record over price alone.

How to Approach This Application

Emphasize your ability to maintain consistent stock levels and meet delivery deadlines, as NEWA’s operational efficiency depends on timely supplies. Provide clear documentation of your business registration, tax compliance, and at least two references from past clients—preferably NGOs or women-focused organizations. Highlight any experience supplying diverse items like notebooks, toner cartridges, or envelopes, as the network may require bulk orders for member events.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

This opportunity is best for established small to medium suppliers with NGO experience, and competition is moderate given the growing vendor base in Addis Ababa’s development sector.

Background

The Network of Ethiopian Women’s Associations (NEWA) is a non-partisan, not-for-profit, non-governmental national network established in 2003. NEWA brings together over 50 member associations/ organizations collectively working to advance gender equality and women’s rights across Ethiopia.

NEWA’s advocacy, networking, and operational interventions refer to its efforts in influencing policies and decision-making processes, strengthening collaboration among member organizations and stakeholders, and implementing programs and activities that promote gender equality and women’s rights.
