About This Role
This is a field-facing role based in Gambella, focused on building and managing relationships with local government, community leaders, and partner organizations to advance Oxfam’s humanitarian and development goals. It suits a professional who thrives on negotiation, public representation, and influencing policy at the regional level, rather than on direct program delivery. Working for a major international NGO in a border region known for refugee influxes means the role likely involves coordinating around displacement, resource access, and protection issues.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The employer is seeking someone who can navigate complex stakeholder landscapes—not just list contacts, but actually move agendas forward through diplomacy and strategic communication. The implied profile is a mid-career professional with proven experience in coalition-building, policy analysis, and grassroots mobilization, likely in a humanitarian or development context. Fluency in local languages and familiarity with Gambella’s political and social dynamics will be significant unspoken advantages.
How to Approach This Application
Your cover letter and CV should highlight specific examples of successful advocacy campaigns or partnership agreements you have led or significantly influenced, especially in multi-stakeholder settings. Emphasize your ability to work under pressure in remote or insecure environments, and demonstrate understanding of Oxfam’s safeguarding and gender-justice frameworks. Employers will prioritize candidates who can show they have already built trust with government offices or community-based organizations in similar contexts.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best suited for an experienced advocacy or partnership professional with strong local knowledge of Gambella and a track record in conflict-sensitive programming. Competition will be moderate, as the location and specific focus narrow the applicant pool, but Oxfam’s brand will attract committed candidates.
