About This Role

This role is the operational nerve center between supply chain and production at a major state-owned FMCG manufacturer. You will be responsible for ensuring that raw materials, particularly tobacco leaf and packaging inputs, arrive precisely when needed to keep factory lines running without interruption. It suits a mid-career supply chain professional who thrives on data-driven forecasting and can navigate the complexities of import logistics and foreign currency allocation in Ethiopia.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The implied profile is a planner who understands both the technical side of MRP systems and the practical realities of procurement in a constrained import environment. Expect the employer to look for someone who can balance textbook inventory optimization with real-world challenges like FOREX shortages and supplier lead time variability. Experience in FMCG or pharmaceutical planning, where shelf-life and obsolescence are critical, will be highly valued.

How to Approach This Application

Tailor your CV to highlight specific examples where you prevented stockouts or reduced excess inventory in a manufacturing setting. Emphasize any experience with ERP systems (SAP or similar) and direct involvement in FOREX planning or import documentation. In your cover letter, demonstrate understanding of how raw material delays can cascade into lost production days — show that you think in terms of trade-offs between holding cost and production risk.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

Best suited for a supply chain professional with 5+ years in planning roles within manufacturing, ideally in FMCG or tobacco. This is a moderately competitive position for those with proven experience in import-dependent supply chains.
