About This Role

This role places you at the frontline of a four-year disability rights initiative, coordinating activities in Jimma or Mekelle. You will work directly with organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) and local government bodies to translate project goals into tangible inclusion outcomes. It is ideal for a junior professional eager to gain hands-on experience in rights-based development, particularly within Ethiopia’s evolving disability sector. ECDD’s reputation as a specialized organization means you will be contributing to a focused, high-impact advocacy effort.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The listing implies a need for someone who can navigate both community-level engagement and administrative coordination. You are likely expected to demonstrate basic project management skills, such as report writing and activity scheduling, alongside a genuine understanding of disability inclusion principles. The employer is seeking a candidate who can build trust with diverse stakeholders—from OPD leaders to local officials—while managing field logistics. Prior experience in a similar grassroots role, even if short-term, will be valued over academic credentials alone.

How to Approach This Application

Your application should highlight any direct experience working with marginalized groups, especially persons with disabilities. If you have previously coordinated meetings, workshops, or small-scale advocacy events, make that explicit. Employers here prioritize practical familiarity with the local context in Jimma or Mekelle, so mention specific knowledge of the region’s disability landscape if possible. A cover letter that briefly explains why disability inclusion matters to you—without sounding generic—will stand out.

This role is best suited for a development professional with 1–3 years of experience who is passionate about grassroots advocacy and comfortable working in regional towns.
