About This Role

This is a field-based protection role within a long-established international faith-based organization, requiring deep engagement with vulnerable communities in the Amhara region. The role involves implementing protection frameworks, likely focusing on conflict-affected populations, internally displaced persons, or host communities. It is suited for an experienced professional who is comfortable working in remote duty stations and managing sensitive cases with discretion and cultural awareness.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The seniority level and field focus suggest the employer is looking for someone who can independently lead protection assessments and case management without close supervision. The requirement for 5-8 years of experience indicates a need for proven expertise in humanitarian protection principles, including child protection, gender-based violence response, or psychosocial support. The organization likely values candidates with prior experience in similar insecure or hard-to-reach areas of Ethiopia, as well as familiarity with national and international protection standards.

How to Approach This Application

Your application should highlight concrete examples of managing protection cases, conducting risk assessments, or coordinating with government and UN protection actors. Emphasize your ability to work in multi-ethnic communities and under challenging security conditions. Since LWF is faith-based but implements through a non-discriminatory approach, mention your experience working with diverse religious and ethnic groups without bias. Tailor your cover letter to show understanding of the specific protection dynamics in South Gondar or North Wollo.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

This role is best for an experienced protection practitioner with strong field presence and a commitment to serving marginalized populations. Competition is moderate, as the remote location and seniority level will filter for serious, mission-driven candidates.
