About This Role
This role involves leading internal audit functions within a specialized Shari’ah-compliant bank, requiring you to ensure financial and operational integrity across all branches and departments. It suits an experienced auditor who understands both conventional audit standards and the unique frameworks of interest-free banking. At ZamZam Bank, your work will directly support financial inclusion for underserved communities, making this more than a compliance role — it is about enabling ethical growth.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The employer is looking for a seasoned professional with at least three years of auditing experience, but the specific emphasis on seniority suggests they want someone who can independently design audit plans and communicate findings to management. Familiarity with Shari’ah-compliant financial products is likely a strong advantage, even if not explicitly listed, given the bank’s core identity. The role also implies a need for strong analytical skills and the ability to navigate regulatory expectations in Ethiopia’s evolving banking sector.
How to Approach This Application
In your application, highlight specific examples of audit engagements where you identified control weaknesses or recommended process improvements — this demonstrates proactive thinking. Emphasize any exposure to Islamic finance, cooperative banking, or rural financial institutions, as this aligns with ZamZam Bank’s mission. Also, mention your ability to work with diverse teams and communicate complex findings clearly, as internal auditors often bridge technical and operational staff.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best suited for a mid-career auditor who wants to grow within a mission-driven, niche financial institution. Competition may be moderate, but candidates with direct Islamic banking or microfinance audit experience will stand out.
