About This Role
This is a senior operational leadership role based in Juba, South Sudan, requiring someone who can fully own the production lifecycle of concrete and block manufacturing in a challenging, cross-border environment. It suits an experienced construction materials manager who thrives on hands-on plant management, supply chain coordination, and ensuring uninterrupted delivery to active construction sites. GS Group is a known regional player in East Africa, so this role likely involves managing local teams, optimizing production output under resource constraints, and maintaining quality in a less regulated market.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
While the listing doesn’t detail specific qualifications, the implied profile is a seasoned professional with deep technical knowledge of batching plant machinery, concrete mix design, and block curing processes. The employer is seeking someone who can troubleshoot mechanical issues on the ground, enforce safety protocols without constant oversight, and coordinate logistics across potentially remote locations. This is not a desk job — expect to be present on the plant floor, managing shifts, inventory, and preventive maintenance schedules.
How to Approach This Application
Your application should emphasize proven experience in managing similar plants in East Africa or post-conflict settings, where infrastructure and supply chains are unreliable. Highlight specific examples of how you maintained production targets despite power outages, material shortages, or equipment breakdowns. It would also be wise to directly address your comfort level with expatriate assignments in South Sudan — the employer will prioritize candidates who are flexible, culturally adaptable, and prepared for living conditions in Juba.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best suited for a seasoned plant manager with at least 8–10 years in concrete production, ideally with exposure to international or regional construction firms. Competition is likely moderate, as the location and seniority narrow the candidate pool, but expect strong interest from professionals already based in or open to the East African market.
