About This Role

This role is about embedding safety and environmental protocols into the physical construction of high-voltage power lines across several towns in Oromia. You are the on-the-ground enforcer, not just a paper-pusher—you will be walking transmission line routes, running toolbox talks, and ensuring that every crew member understands the risks of working near live or elevated infrastructure. It suits an EHS professional who prefers fieldwork over office work and who can handle the logistical challenges of monitoring multiple dispersed construction sites.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

KEC is looking for someone who has internalized the difference between a safety plan on paper and safety in practice. The emphasis on “100% compliance” and “on-site mock drills” suggests they want an inspector who can anticipate hazards before they happen, not just report them after. Their ideal candidate likely has experience in heavy civil or energy infrastructure, where the stakes—electrocution, falls, equipment accidents—are high and the margin for error is zero.

How to Approach This Application

Focus your CV and cover letter on specific examples where you have implemented EHS plans on linear infrastructure projects (roads, pipelines, or power lines). Mention any experience you have conducting public awareness campaigns, as the role includes local engagement. If you have worked with Ethiopian Electric Power or similar utilities, highlight that. The employer will prioritize candidates who can demonstrate they have enforced compliance in remote, multi-site environments rather than in a single factory or office.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

It is moderately competitive, as KEC is a major international contractor and safety inspector roles on large infrastructure projects attract experienced candidates.
