Who This Role Suits

Environmental and / or Social Expert for managing Environmental and Social risks during construction, ensuring sustainable practices, and protecting surrounding communities and ecosystems while maintaining regulatory compliances. Drive Construction – ESMP implementation with compliance, effective environmental and social impact mitigation and strong performance in environmental and Social safe-guards for high-voltage transmission line projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with corporate, statutory, and project environmental requirements including Construction Environmental and Social Management Plan (C- ESMP).
Conduct regular site visits, community consultations on HIV/STD and Diseases Prevention, Gender Based Violence and Prevention against Sexual Harassment and Abuse. Monitor social performance, prepare reports and manage client/stakeholder communication.
Develop, implement, and monitor environmental and social mitigation measures across all transmission line construction activities.
Manage waste handling, hazardous materials, erosion control, and pollution prevention programs on site.
Deliver environmental training and awareness programs to staff and subcontractors.
Investigate environmental and social incidents and implement corrective/preventive actions
Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science / Environmental Engineering, Sociology, Ecology or related field.
OSH / NEBOSH Certification with 8 to 10 years’ experience in Environmental and/or Social Management for infrastructure projects.
Fluent in English and Ethiopian regional languages.
Prior experience in Transmission projects, Experience in projects funded by World Bank, African Development is an added advantage.
