About This Role

This is a high-stakes operational leadership role based in Juba, South Sudan, requiring someone who can independently manage end-to-end production of aggregates and asphalt for large-scale construction or road projects. The position suits an experienced engineer or plant manager comfortable working in a cross-border, resource-constrained environment where reliability of supply is critical. GS Group is a prominent Ethiopian conglomerate, so this role likely involves coordinating with Ethiopian expatriate teams and local South Sudanese staff in a demanding post-conflict setting.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The employer is seeking a seasoned professional who can handle both technical plant management and team supervision without constant oversight. Rather than listing specific years of experience or degrees, the description emphasizes hands-on responsibility for production planning, quality control, and maintenance—indicating they value practical problem-solving over formal qualifications alone. The reporting line to a Deputy General Manager suggests the role requires someone who can bridge field-level operations with senior management expectations.

How to Approach This Application

Your application should demonstrate proven experience managing crusher and asphalt plants in remote or challenging locations, ideally with examples of maintaining production targets despite equipment or supply chain constraints. Emphasize your ability to train and lead local crews, as well as your familiarity with South Sudanese or similar East African project environments. The employer likely prioritizes candidates who can show stability and commitment, so highlight any past assignments of two years or more in similar roles.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

This role is best suited for a seasoned plant engineer or manager with at least 5–7 years of experience in aggregate and asphalt production, ideally with exposure to cross-border operations. Competition is likely moderate, as the location and seniority level narrow the candidate pool, but strong applications from Ethiopian professionals with South Sudan experience will stand out.
