About This Role

This role sits at the intersection of fiscal discipline and operational support within a donor-funded agricultural education project. You will be the financial backbone of a three-year initiative, managing budgets, ensuring compliance with both Ethiopian law and international donor standards, and coordinating logistics across four regions. It is ideal for a finance professional who thrives on structure and accountability, and who wants to see their work directly enable rural development and livestock welfare.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The call for a mid-level professional with 3-5 years of experience signals a need for someone who is both technically competent and operationally independent—not a junior who needs hand-holding, but not a senior manager either. The emphasis on procurement integrity and compliance suggests the employer values process adherence over creativity; they need someone who can safeguard funds in a multi-regional, multi-stakeholder environment. Proficiency in financial software and donor reporting is likely non-negotiable, as is comfort with frequent travel to field sites.

How to Approach This Application

In your cover letter and interview, do not simply list your accounting skills. Instead, demonstrate your ability to maintain financial control under field conditions—for example, how you have managed petty cash at remote project sites or reconciled expenses across multiple offices. Emphasize any experience working with international partners or government bodies, as this role bridges both. Prepare to discuss specific examples of how you ensured procurement was transparent and audit-ready, as this will be a top priority for the hiring committee.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

This role is best suited for a finance officer who is meticulous, comfortable with travel, and eager to work in a structured, mission-driven environment. Competition is moderate, as the combination of NGO experience and regional mobility narrows the field.
