About This Role

This role is less about traditional recruitment or policy enforcement and more centered on compensation data management and market analysis within a large-scale agricultural operation. Based at the world’s largest rose farm in Ziway, the HR Generalist will primarily focus on tracking inflation trends and maintaining precise databases for employee benefits—both cash and in-kind. It suits a detail-oriented early-career HR professional who is comfortable working in a remote, fast-paced industrial setting and enjoys the analytical side of human resources.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The emphasis on market and inflation assessments signals that the company prioritizes data-driven compensation decisions rather than generic pay scales. The need for accurate database management implies the role requires strong technical skills—likely in Excel, HRIS, or similar systems—even if not explicitly listed. This is not a role for someone seeking broad HR exposure; it favors candidates with a knack for numbers, auditing, and meticulous record-keeping.

How to Approach This Application

Highlight any experience you have with payroll support, benefits administration, or database management, even if from internships or academic projects. Since Sher Ethiopia operates in a specific industry (floriculture) and location (Ziway), demonstrate awareness of rural workforce dynamics and the importance of accurate compensation tracking for thousands of employees. Emphasize your proficiency with spreadsheets, data validation, and inflation analysis tools.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

This role is best suited for a junior HR professional who is analytical, highly organized, and comfortable working on-site at a large farm. Given the company’s scale and the niche focus, competition may be moderate, with an advantage for candidates who understand the Ethiopian labor market and agricultural sector.

Sher Ethiopia PLC is one of the largest and most influential horticultural enterprises in Africa, specializing in the cultivation and export of premium-quality roses. Located in Ziway, Oromia Region, the company operates the world’s largest rose farm, spanning over 650 hectares of greenhouse area. Sher Ethiopia plays a vital role in Ethiopia’s floriculture industry, exporting millions of roses daily to European markets. Beyond its commercial success, the company is deeply committed to social responsibility employing over 14,000 workers, the majority of whom are women
