About This Role

This is a high-stakes coordination role that sits at the intersection of protection, recovery, and resilience. You will not just manage projects—you will be expected to weave together three distinct but interconnected humanitarian pillars (livelihoods, education, and GBV response) into a coherent, survivor-centered strategy. The role suits a seasoned humanitarian professional who can navigate the complexities of multi-sectoral programming while maintaining a sharp focus on quality, accountability, and donor compliance. Working for ELiDA, a local Ethiopian NGO, means you will be close to the ground, but also responsible for upholding international standards in a context where resources and systems may be stretched.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The implied profile is someone who has moved beyond single-sector expertise into integrated program management. The employer is looking for evidence that you have not only implemented GBV or education projects separately, but that you understand how these sectors reinforce each other—for example, how livelihood support can reduce vulnerability to GBV, or how safe education spaces can serve as entry points for protection. The five-to-eight-year experience range signals they want a professional who is operationally mature, capable of strategic planning, and comfortable with the pressure of managing multiple donor-funded grants simultaneously.

How to Approach This Application

Your cover letter and CV should tell a story of cross-sectoral impact. Instead of listing separate experiences in livelihoods, education, and GBV, frame your past work around integrated outcomes—for instance, how a livelihood intervention improved school retention for girls or how an education program incorporated GBV referral pathways. Emphasize your familiarity with humanitarian standards like the IASC Guidelines for GBV in Emergencies and the INEE Minimum Standards. The employer will prioritize candidates who demonstrate both technical depth and the ability to coordinate across teams and with local partners in a fast-moving emergency context.
