About This Role

This role sits at the intersection of administration and government relations, specifically within a pharmaceutical company that operates across borders. As a Liaison Officer, you will be the primary bridge between the company and Ethiopian immigration authorities, handling the logistics of foreign employees’ legal status. It suits a detail-oriented professional who thrives on process compliance, enjoys navigating bureaucratic systems, and understands that delays in permit processing can directly impact business operations.

What the Requirements Say About This Role

The emphasis on “legal knowledge of immigration laws” signals that the employer values practical familiarity with Ethiopian immigration procedures more than formal legal credentials. The request for experience with “online government portals” suggests that efficiency and digital literacy are non-negotiable — this is not a role for someone who relies solely on in-person visits. The requirement for high English proficiency implies that the foreign employees you will support may not speak Amharic, so clear communication in English is essential for both internal coordination and external follow-ups.

How to Approach This Application

In your cover letter, do not simply list your administrative skills. Instead, provide a concrete example of a time you successfully secured a permit or resolved a documentation issue under tight deadlines. Emphasize your adaptability — mention any experience with changing immigration rules or working with multicultural teams. Since the salary is negotiable, research typical compensation for liaison roles in pharmaceutical or multinational settings in Addis to enter discussions informed. Highlighting familiarity with specific government offices (e.g., Immigration and Nationality Affairs Directorate) would set you apart.

Best Fit

Who This Role Suits

This role is best suited for a junior professional with 1–3 years of experience in administration or government relations who is comfortable with repetitive paperwork and persistent follow-up. Given that only one candidate is needed and the pharmaceutical sector is niche, the competition will be moderate but focused — your edge lies in demonstrated knowledge of work permit procedures.
