People and Culture Supervisor
National Tobacco Enterprise (Ethiopia) Sh. co.About This Role
This role places you at the operational core of a major industrial employer, acting as the bridge between corporate human resources strategy and the realities of a leaf processing center. It is best suited for an HR professional who thrives on hands-on employee relations and operational problem-solving rather than purely administrative or policy-focused work. At a state-owned enterprise like National Tobacco Enterprise, you will navigate both formal compliance requirements and the practical needs of a large, potentially unionized workforce in a factory setting.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The posting is seeking a seasoned HR generalist with strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, as the role demands managing the full employee lifecycle in a high-volume operational environment. The emphasis on "workforce planning" and "organizational development" indicates a need for someone who can proactively anticipate staffing needs and drive process improvements, not just react to issues. Experience in a manufacturing or agricultural processing context will likely be viewed as a significant advantage, given the specific reference to "Leaf Operations Centers."
How to Approach This Application
Your application should highlight specific examples of how you have managed employee relations in a large, operational setting, such as resolving grievances or implementing performance management systems for production teams. Emphasize any experience you have with headcount planning and compliance with labor laws in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Tailor your cover letter to demonstrate your understanding of the unique challenges of a state-owned enterprise, such as balancing efficiency with strict procedural adherence.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best for a mid-career HR professional with 3-5 years of experience who is ready to take on significant operational responsibility and is comfortable working in a factory or processing plant setting. Given the specific location and the specialized nature of the industry, it is likely a moderately competitive role, with a strong advantage for candidates who have relevant tobacco or agricultural processing experience.
