Project Manager
Alage Agricultural, Technical, Vocational and Training (ATVT) CollegeAbout This Role
This role is about driving a multi-stakeholder, government-linked agricultural and veterinary training project across four Ethiopian regions. It suits a seasoned project manager who thrives in complex, partnership-heavy environments—balancing the demands of an academic institution, an international NGO, and national policy bodies. Expect to spend significant time coordinating field activities in Oromia, Sidama, Central Ethiopia, and Amhara, not just sitting at a desk.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The emphasis on five to eight years of experience suggests the employer wants someone who has already navigated bureaucratic hurdles and can manage grant-funded timelines without hand-holding. The requirement to report to multiple directors (college dean, federal director, and country director) implies high-level stakeholder management skills are non-negotiable. You’re likely expected to bring a track record of delivering results in agricultural or veterinary development projects, not just generic project management.
How to Approach This Application
In your cover letter and CV, highlight specific examples of managing projects with multiple government and NGO partners—especially if you’ve worked with Ethiopian federal or regional agricultural offices. Emphasize your ability to coordinate travel-heavy field operations across different zones, and any experience with TVET or livestock health initiatives. The employer will prioritize candidates who demonstrate they can align academic, NGO, and policy agendas without losing momentum.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best for an experienced project manager with a background in agriculture or veterinary development who enjoys hands-on, field-based coordination. Given the partnership with The Donkey Sanctuary and MoLS, competition will be moderate—candidates with direct Ethiopian government or NGO project experience will have a clear edge.
