Job Summary :- The Senior Field Sales Engineer will lead the promotion and sales of agricultural machinery across Ethiopia by combining technical expertise with strong field-based sales execution. The role focuses on engaging commercial farms, unions, cooperatives, NGOs, and government-supported agricultural programs, while adapting solutions to local farming practices, financing constraints, and infrastructure realities.

Key Responsibilities :-

  • Drive sales of tractors, harvesters, implements, and related machinery across the territory.

  • Identify and develop business opportunities with: 

    • Commercial farms and large-scale investors 

    • Farmer cooperatives and unions 

    • NGOs and international development organizations 

    • Government agricultural programs and bureaus 

  • Conduct on-site demonstrations in rural areas, showcasing machinery performance under local conditions 

  • Advise customers on appropriate machinery selection based on land size, crop type (coffee, wheat, maize, sesame, etc.), and terrain

  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders, including cooperative leaders and regional officials 

  • Prepare quotations, tenders, and proposals, especially for institutional and NGO procurement processes 

  • Support customers in accessing financing options (banks, leasing companies, government-supported credit schemes where available)

  • Work closely with after-sales and workshop teams to ensure proper delivery, commissioning, operator training, and maintenance follow-up 

  • Monitor competitor activities (e.g., Chinese, Indian, and Turkish machinery suppliers) and provide market intelligence 

  • Represent the company at agricultural exhibitions, field days, and regional trade fairs 

  • Ensure timely reporting of sales pipeline, forecasts, and field activities 

Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Annual and quarterly sales revenue targets achieved 
  • Number of tractors/machines sold per region 
  • Growth in institutional (NGO/government/cooperative) sales 
  • Customer satisfaction and repeat business 
  • Effectiveness of field demonstrations and conversion rates 

Working Conditions

  • Extensive travel across rural Ethiopia with up to 60% field time 
  • Work in remote areas with limited infrastructure 
  • Frequent overnight stays in regional towns 
  • Intensive activity during peak agricultural seasons (planting and harvesting periods) 

Qualification and Skills

Education:-

  • Bsc in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in agricultural machinery, heavy equipment, or automotive field sales in Ethiopia.

  • Experience working with cooperatives, unions, or public/NGO procurement is highly desirable 

Skills 

  • Strong understanding of Ethiopian farming systems and regional agricultural practices 

  • Proven track record in achieving sales targets in a field-based role 

  • Fluency in Afaan Oromo & Amharic is required; knowledge of other local languages is a strong advantage 

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); CRM experience is a plus 

  • Valid Ethiopian driving license with strong off-road driving capability
