About This Role
This is a field-based role with a long-standing feminist organization, requiring someone who can manage projects directly in Dasenech, a remote area in South Ethiopia. The coordinator will likely oversee interventions around gender equality, livelihoods, and protection, working closely with local communities. It suits a professional who thrives in grassroots settings and can handle the logistical and interpersonal demands of a one-year contract in a challenging environment.
What the Requirements Say About This Role
The call for a mid-level professional with 3-5 years of experience suggests the employer values practical, on-the-ground competence over seniority. The role likely demands a candidate who can independently coordinate activities, manage resources, and navigate the socio-cultural dynamics of the region. Implied priorities include a strong grasp of gender issues, field-level project management, and adaptability to limited infrastructure.
How to Approach This Application
Emphasize your direct experience in field coordination, especially in remote or pastoralist areas like South Ethiopia. Highlight any work with gender-focused projects or communities facing marginalization, as the employer’s zero-tolerance stance on abuse indicates a high standard for ethical conduct. Be specific about how you’ve handled logistics, reporting, and community engagement in similar roles.
Who This Role Suits
This role is best for a seasoned project coordinator who is comfortable with isolation and dedicated to feminist principles. It is moderately competitive, as the niche focus and location will limit the applicant pool, but the urgency of the vacancy may speed up hiring.
